In Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, administration and initial setup are
significantly simplified. Some of the major advances include:
• Uses standard web service concepts.
• Services groups with the AutoDeploy property on work out of the
box without any need for administrator setup or configuration.
• Top level concepts are reduced from 17 to 4.
o Inbound ports.
o Outbound ports.
o Value substitution maps.
o Web sites.
• User interface is redesigned using the "progressive disclosure" principal.
o Administrators are only provided options as they need them. For example: Service contract customizations are available when configuring enhanced inbound ports, but not when configuring
basic inbound ports.
• Partial import/export to move integration project configurations across environments.
o Use of a new global feature to move data setup between environments.
