Role based security in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is designed to shift part of
the task of setting up security from administrators to developers, and to provide
tools to automate security setup.
For the administrator:
• Minimizes time that is required to set up and maintain security.
• Manages security by using business process roles.
• Minimizes the requirement to deal with table permissions.
• Easier to set up, maintain and prove segregation of conflicting duties.
For the developer (easier to develop for non-administrative scenarios):
• Enables declarative metadata-based statements of security intent.
o No security decisions made in code.
• Minimizes cost of maintaining security related artifacts.
• Publishes guidance on the most appropriate coding patterns.
